Footnotes is a running space for people who love to run on roads, on trails, in the rain, in the dark, and occasionally into a headwind.

You’ll find training chat, kit reviews, and training programmes. No gatekeeping, no guru nonsense. Just practical advice that helps you run a bit better, feel a bit stronger, and spend your money on the right things (or at least fewer wrong things).

  • Training, explained like a human
We break down the stuff runners are always googling—easy pace, intervals, cadence, strength work, staying consistent, coming back after a niggle—without turning it into a lecture. If something’s complicated, we’ll make it simple. If it’s simple, we’ll say so.

    Kit reviews you can trust
Shoes, socks, layers, lights, watches, packs—the lot. We’re not here to worship price tags or pretend everything is “game-changing”. We’ll tell you what’s worth it, what’s fine, and what’s best left on the shelf.

    Race notes and real-world guides
From logistics to pacing to “what I wish I’d known”, we cover races in a way that’s actually useful—especially if you’re the sort of runner who likes to know where the toilets are before you commit to 26.2 miles.

    Road and trail
We love a good road run, and we’re not above a muddy trail that turns into a bog halfway round. Expect trail tips, kit that survives British weather, and the occasional reminder that downhill is a skill, not a personality trait.

  • Footnotes is for runners of any pace or ability—new runners, steady runners, serial sign-uppers, PB chasers, and anyone currently bargaining with themselves on the way to the door. If you’d rather be out there than reading about it, you’re in the right place.

  • Right now, the focus is weekly posts and building a solid library of running advice and reviews. Over time, you’ll also be able to buy training programmes through the site—straightforward, structured, and designed for normal life (jobs, weather, dodgy sleep, the lot).

    Let’s get stuck in.
